Tami is Your Family Expert Therapist. She’s equipped with extensive experience in mental health. A grandmother, mom, radio-host, certified in: Seeking Safety an evidence-based model for Trauma and Addiction, Naloxone and Overdose Awareness, Cultural Competence, ASAM (I) & ASAM (II) etc.
Since 2009 Tami has had gainful experiences in acute care and school-based settings, case management, utilization management, sub-acute care/detox, Veteran care, managed health care, residential, IOP, PHP, step-down unit(s) etc.
Tami has offered psychoeducational classes: anger management, and parenting. The anger management course was taken from George Andersen, who was the technical advisor for the movie Anger Management w/Jack Nicholson and Adam Sandler. Parenting class was achieved from a healthy relationships course. Tami taught state-grant-funded parenting classes in the inner city, state work source center for the community. This was a multi-cultural, court-ordered, and self-development clientele program.
Tami has run morning and evening reflection groups in a women’s treatment center. As a certified addiction counselor, she ran groups in treatment and detox.
Subsequently, she has had a radio-show where content ranged from women’s empowerment, faith, and community.
Tami earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal justice, from American Inter-Continental University. Her Master of Science in Psychology was later conferred from California Southern University.
Tami is a Christian, grandmother, and mom. She is a product of an immigrant parent, who had many predicaments involving acculturation and traumatic experiences. It has shaped and strengthened Tami’s view of BIPOC relationships and an awareness of cultural diversity. She is a survivor of domestic violence. She raised her children as a single parent. And understands the plight of the African American experience.
